Dissection policy raises concern about resources

Vancouver (CKNW/AM980) – Vancouver's school trustees agree: when it comes to dissecting frogs, pig fetuses, or cow eyeballs, students should be given the right to pass on the real thing.

A proposed policy would see students be informed of their right to choose alternatives like books, videos, or computers. But Bill Bargeman of the Secondary Teachers Association is concerned about resources. He wonders how it would work if a group of students want to use a computer simulation method-- but there aren't enough computers.

The policy still has to be approved, but trustees say they're in favor.
