Vancouver (CKNW/AM980) – The Vancouver School District is thinking about implementing an opt out policy for high school kids who don't want to perform dissections. The questions is, does the bow out for some biology students have to do with their squeamishness and the treatment of animals, or is it money? The animal specimens are pricey. A pail of cow eyes cost $257, while a fetal pig can go for as high as $25. The Education and Students Services Committee will vote tomorrow on a draft policy making it alright for students to say no. It's recommending trustees endorse it.
