The alternatives to dissection shall be accessed and available to students as an integral part of their program when requested.
Procedure:
- Students shall be informed in student handbooks and/or similar school publications of their right to forgo dissection.
- Alternatives must be available in all classes where animals may be used for this purpose.
- The teacher shall remind all students, in advance of the activity, that they have the right to withdraw from dissection activities.
- The teacher, in cooperation with the principal, is responsible for providing a viable and comparable alternative to dissection and evaluation for that activity.
